PROFESSIONS: THE BASICS

WHAT ARE PROFESSIONS?

Professions are sort of like ranks, but here at the glade, they work a little different. Your wolf can be skilled in a wide range of professions. For instance, a large and burly Ursae could double as both a guardian or warrior type character and a healer at the same time. This gives increased flexibility, because we all have vast talents and interests in real life. The Glade incorporates this into their Role Play, allowing your character to have a short and professional range of skills, or to be a jack of all trades.

WHAT PROFESSIONS ARE THERE?

All skills break down into four basic classes, normally with one generalized skill and three class-specific ones. There are Wardens, who specialize in defense, fighting, and taking damage for others during battle. There are Predators, who specialize in the knowledge and skill related to tracking and downing prey. There are the scholars, who have by far the widest range of possible skills and applications; from assisting with pups, to picking herbs, to organizing and keeping track of the knowledge of the pack. And finally, we have the Vanguard, who specialize in tracking pack borders, noting possible dangers and changes in the territory, carrying messages, and scouting out enemies.

HOW DO I LEVEL PROFESSIONS?

Through quests! Please head over to the quest area for more specific information on how this works. But, in short, when you quest you gain levels that increase your overall health and give you skill points that you can apply to skills.

DOES MY WOLF START OFF WITH NO SKILL.. AT ALL?

Yep.. Sorry. It's just the only way this really logically works out in this setting, but no worries! We work to keep this process as fun and engaging as possible!

PROFESSIONS W/ DESCRIPTIONS

CLASSES

  • WARDEN - These wolves are the guardians, warriors, and defenders of the pack. They are often hardened warriors who spend time making sure they are as strong as possible. This rank isn't rigid, as wolves can focus only on giving damage, or protecting others from it. They also can focus on looking as dangerous and threatening as possible, to keep enemies focused on attacking them instead of their allies.
  • PREDATOR - These wolves are the hunters of the pack. Often they focus on getting into groups to hunt different prey depending on the need, working out strategies and keeping each other safe when taking down dangerous prey. They can also set out alongside Wardens to take down even more pressing dangers.
  • SCHOLAR - These wolves have many important applications in the pack. They help and heal members, or poison dangers. They help raise the next generation and tend to new mothers, and help inexperienced wolves start new skills. They also can care for the weak, injured, and diseased. And finally, these wolves can just serve as canine encyclopedias, giving members a reliable resource for advice and all-around training.
  • VANGUARD - These wolves are the scouts and messenger types. They are often quite speedy and can cover long distances efficiently. They are crafty at stalking and taking note of potential dangers, whether they are in the form of environmental dangers(such as impending volcanic eruptions) or other dangers, such as rabid bears. They can also run ahead when a battle is in progress, taking note of enemy numbers and possible weaknesses.
